During the transition phase from .Net 4.5 / 4.6 to .Net Core we will have many projects that need to compile under both frameworks. How do you go about this?

Open you project.json file and change it slightly - my current one looks like:

{

  "version": "1.0.0-*",

  "frameworks": {

    "net45": {},

    "netstandard1.6": {

      "dependencies": {

        "NETStandard.Library": "1.6.0"

      },

      "imports": "dnxcore50"

    }

  }

}

Then after compiling you will find output in your bin\Debug (or Release):

09/13/2016  09:44 PM    <DIR>          .

09/13/2016  09:44 PM    <DIR>          ..

09/13/2016  09:44 PM    <DIR>          net45

09/13/2016  09:36 PM    <DIR>          netstandard1.6
